On June 9th 2024 at 09:00, I'll begin my next EPIC challenge!

Attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the
'Greatest Distance Covered on a Treadmill in One Week'

Watch live on youtube from June 9th - 16th

Emma's YouTube Channel
WHAT

The current record is 833.o5km.  This works out at an average of 119km per day over the week.  During the seven days you can use the time however you like.  Yes, you can get off the treadmill to go to the toilet!  You have to find a strategy that works for you but the more time you spend off the treadmill the less distance you accumulate.
WHERE

This event will take place at Nga Puna Wai Christchurch's premier outdoor sports facility.  We have been very lucky to have the support of Christchurch City Council and Sport Canterbury to take this event to the next level.

WHY

Before, during and after this huge run we'll be raising as much money as possible for The Speed Freaks Trust.  This young charity is in desperate need of funding as demand increases throughout Aotearoa.

The Speed Freaks kaupapa (philosophy) is to increase health, wellbeing and connection. Supporting recovery from addiction and mental distress through the vehicle of running and walking.

I've seen first-hand the impact this organisation has on the people it touches, far and wide.  The sense of community and inclusivity is abundant.  There are so many people living within our communities that may not feel accepted and a part of society.  Speed Freaks is there to open the door to you.

Unfortunately The Speed Freaks Trust is stretched beyond its means and need more funding.  This is where we hope to make the difference.  You can donate directly to the cause or get your mates together and set your own treadmill challenge.

Donations

You can donate directly to the Speed Freaks here or you can set up your own fundraising challenge and see how far you can run or walk during the week (June 9-16th).  There's also the option to set up a team and see how many kilometres you can run as a group.

PRACTICE

In July 2023, I went for a little run on a treadmill... only joking! I completed a two day practice on the treadmill in 2023 which ended up being a Guinness World Record.  This was a great experience as myself and my crew found so many ways to make the big event even better!  Have a look here for more information about the 48 treadmill record.
